“Where-O; Where-O… Wendover”
Did You Know …
- Wendover – is a small community on the Utah/Nevada border. It is located along Interstate 80 about 120 miles west of Salt Lake City. It offers casinos, gambling, shows, concerts and liquor.
- Wendover – is also where the crew of the Enola Gay trained before dropping the atom bomb on Japan in 1945.
- West Wendover, Nevada – is a cozy northeastern Nevada city on the Utah border, which separates it from its sister town of Wendover, Utah, both of which form a joint community at the western edge of Utah’s Great Salt Lake Desert. The two cities are separated only by the State line and a handful of differing laws.
- Wendover City – is famous for the nearby Bonneville Salt Flats, the 26,000 acres of salt flats where world land speed records have been made.

This was in the ‘70s; I had just graduated from Sacramento State, so some buddies and I decided to drive to Salt Lake City to visit family (and, of course, gamble and have some fun in Reno, Nevada).”

I then followed up with, ‘Oh, I often rest-stop in Wendover on my trips to Salt Lake City.’ To my surprise, she replied, ‘Really?? Where is Wendover??’…”
